Important Issues  Nationwide, NC schools are ranked 33rd overall (our neighbor, Virginia, ranked 4th).   Our children and teachers deserve better.  My dream for education of our children is that they learn how to responsibly manage and live in freedom.  This includes a sound foundation in reading, writing and math, and to learn how to evaluate and make judgements that will shape their lives.  To my mind this gives them a good basis for lifetime self-learning either in higher education or other routes.  Today, controversy among adults appears to be getting in the way of learning.  I fear that we are in danger of encouraging closed minds instead of inquiring minds.  Let's mean "No Child Left Behind," and instead of passing failing students on to the next grade, let's get them help to catch up so they can be successful.
                  My issues:
1. Ensure every child has access to a sound free education. 
2.  Protect public school funds from private education use.
3.  Respect teachers and school administration and raise pay to national levels.
4.  Teach real history not fabrications of what happened.
5.  Provide intense tutorial assistance to allow children to keep up.
6.  Protect schools from gun violence.
